We mourn the passing of Professor Elizabeth Malcolm, a distinguished scholar of Irish Studies whose work profoundly enriched the field internationally. A graduate of Trinity College Dublin and former Gerry Higgins Chair of Irish Studies at the University of Melbourne, she published widely on Irish social and cultural history, producing landmark studies on temperance, medicine, policing, and the Irish diaspora. As the first President of the Irish Studies Association of Australia and New Zealand, she helped foster a vibrant scholarly community. Professor Malcolm will be remembered for her intellectual generosity, rigorous scholarship, and lifelong dedication to advancing the understanding of Ireland and its global history.
