Call for Papers for 2020 conference (UCC)

The Call for Papers for our 2020 Annual Conference is now available here. The theme will be ‘Dwelling(s) in Nineteenth-Century Ireland’, and it will be held at University College Cork on 25-26 June 2020.

New essay prize and digitisations of past volumes

2019 conference bursaries announced

The SSNCI is delighted to announce that two members of the Society have been awarded bursaries, to the value of €150 each, to present their research at our Annual Conference at the University of Leicester in June 2019. ACIS 2019.

We really enjoyed ACIS 2019! We were particularly delighted to be able to co-host a book launch with QUB Irish Studies and Liverpool UP. We launched two brilliant books: Marguérite Corporaal, Oona Frawley, and Emily Mark-FitzGerald (Eds), The Great Famine: Visual and Material Culture and from our own series, Georgina Laragy, Olwen Purdue, and Jonathan ACIS 2019.

New conference bursaries

Starting in 2019, the SSNCI will be offering 2 conference bursaries to help PhD students/independent scholars attend our Annual Conference to present their research. These will be worth €150 each. For further information, see here.

2019 Annual Lecture

We are very pleased to announce that our 2019 Annual Lecture: “Maria Edgeworth and the late Scottish Enlightenment: correspondence and community” will be given by Dr. Jane Rendall, University of York. The lecture will take place at the National Library of Ireland at 6pm on Wednesday 16 January 2019. Jane Rendall is an Honorary Fellow 2019 Annual Lecture
