Call for Papers for SSNCI’s annual conference: ‘Urban Spaces in Nineteenth-Century Ireland’ to be held 26-27th June in Queen’s University, Belfast.

Plenary Speaker: Professor Roey Sweet, University of Leicester
Queen’s University Belfast is running a two-day international conference exploring the nature and development of Urban Spaces in nineteenth-century Ireland.
Taking a broad view of the nineteenth century, panels are being constituted from, but not limited to, the following areas: history; architecture; geography; environmental studies; literature; politics; cultural nationalism; poetry; demography; migration; gender; childhood; landscape; maps; settlement; education; work; religion; travel writing; music.
The conference organisers welcome proposals for panels and individual papers. Proposals for roundtable discussions and poster sessions are equally welcome. The deadline for submissions is 14 March 2014. Proposals, including an abstract of the paper and a brief curriculum vitae should be sent to Olwen Purdue o.purdue@qub.ac.uk
It is anticipated that a volume of selected papers from the conference will be published.
